(G* is a standard G chord with the high e string muted. It's only used a 
few times. He doesn't actually play a chord in the recording, but this mimics 
the piano accompaniment better than a full G.
C/G can be substituted with a regular C chord, but I think the full chord 
sounds better. 
Note how Johnny plays his Gs - the third finger is on the third fret of the 
B string. 
You can drop the sustain chords and just play the normal chords and it 
still sounds good.)
